Family Fun Night
This series for children in grades K-5 and their parents is designed to encourage joy in and enthusiasm for reading through stories, crafts, and fun activities on special themes. It is held on selected evenings during the school year from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Friends of Southern Pines Public Library sponsor the series.

On Thursday, February 23, 2012, the library will present Fun with Fossils! (PDF). "Bone" up on your fossil facts. Be amateur paleontologists as we sift for fossilized shark teeth, and then stick around for a free dinner!
Family Fun Night was flying high on Thursday, November 17, 2011! Come celebrate the life of aviator Amelia Earhart (PDF) and learn about her mysterious disappearance from a couple of real-life airplane pilots! Parents and kids in grades 3-5 are invited to this free event and dinner will be served.
To help break the world record for the largest shared reading experiece, come to the library to participate in Read for the Record (PDF) on Thursday, October 6, 2011 as thousands of children, parents, and teachers all over the globe read Llama Llama Red Pajama. After the story there will be a craft and dinner will be served.

Beat the heat and chill out with a free movie for the whole family! In this film, a kid travels far to live in a new country. He soon faces bullies and learns Karate to defend himself. Starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 18 @ 5:30pm: Drumming Circle (PDF)
Experience the culture of Africa and learn basic rhythms on djembe and dundun drums!
