Summer Reading Program for Grades K-4

Make A Splash- READ!

                   

                           First Friday Kickoff
Summer reading will officially kickoff at the First Friday event in downtown Southern Pines on Friday, June 4th. Library staff will be on site to promote Summer Reading and register participants.   

 

                             The Book Bunch (PDF)
When registering for Summer Reading, serious readers in grades K-4 can also join the book club. The Book Bunch will meet 3 times during the summer for book discussion and fun activities. Space is limited to 30 members so pre-registration is required. Children who in addition to meeting their reading goal- attend 2 of the 3 programs will be awarded a special prize. Club meetings will be held on Thursdays at 11 am on June 17, July 15, and August 19.

Go with the Flow! Amazing juggling, mystifying magic, and fun for the whole family!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 14 @ 5:30pm: Blackbeard the Pirate (PDF)
Aargh, mateys! Meet the most infamous pirate of them all!

SUNDAY, JULY 25 @ 2:30pm
This animated movie goes behind the scenes of the high-octane world of competitive penguin surfing!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 5 @ 5:30pm: End of Summer Luau (PDF)
Face-painting, balloon sculptures, and other fun activities!

 

                         Preschool Storytimes (PDF)
Try to stay dry while sailing on the waves of fun and imagination. Dive into the stories, music, and water activities. Children ages birth through 5 years and their parents are invited on Wednesdays at 3:30pm: JUNE 9, JULY 21, and AUGUST 11.
